An evening of both spoken and sung words about giving space to all emotions, about looking where it hurts and growing through it.
“Looking for Ela” presents the soulful indie pop of her debut album “I’ll Be Back Home Soon, Love.” Benni Bauerdick reads from his book “Ich bin todesmutig – vom Umgang mit Trauer im Leben” (“I Am Fearlessly Mortal - On Dealing with Grief in Life”) and speaks about his work with people who are grieving.
“The reason people come to me is something truly terrible, but working with grieving people has a lot to do with love, gratitude, hope, and (continuing to) live,” says the WDR host and grief counselor. His words resonate beautifully with the music of the Cologne-based artist. Born out of the need to sort through emotions and navigate difficult phases, her album reflects an inner transformation from a low point toward greater self-love and clarity. “It’s my way of creating something beautiful and shaped out of difficult moments,” explains the artist, who lives in Cologne and produced most of the album in her own studio.
This evening is both concert and reading. A sensitive night that will also be life-affirming and uplifting, with many insights and practical tips from grief work.
An evening that will surely linger.
